Metadata

Right now there are a few places online that you can share your 360 photos and videos with the world - Youtube and Facebook being two of the most popular.

But unlike with a regular photo or film, you can’t just upload straight from your camera or phone and expect the 360 video or film to work correctly. There's a step in between!

Whenever you create any kind of image or video file, the program or device you used to create it adds something known as metadata. This can include when the image was created, when it was last modified, what device or program was used to capture it, and possibly other information, including how the data is formatted.
In order for your video to be correctly displayed as a 360 video, the right metadata needs to be saved into the file.
Thankfully, there are some easy tools to do this! Follow this link and read Step 2 to get the correct software for Mac or Windows. We’ve also provided a short 360 video. Follow the instructions, inject the metadata, and upload your video to Youtube.
If you’ve done it correctly, the video should display in 360 mode, allowing you to navigate around the frame as you watch.
